These are vintage needlepoint metallic yarns, manufactured in the late 1970s and early 1980s by LaLame. You may also recognize them as Christopher brand yarns, since that company repackaged these yarns under their own label.

Two textures-- frizette (or frizzy) and smooth-- were made in a variety of thicknesses to fit different canvas mesh counts.

The smooth yarns are a braided fiber, shiny and rather stiff. The frizettes have a bristly texture that creates a sparkly or glittery effect. Both are colorfast and hand or machine washable.

Limited stock-- these are the last of the new/old stock from the factory's storage, found when they were moving. The owner described to me in heartbreaking detail the destruction of the antique machinery that twisted the metallic threads into these yarns. LaLame has no plans to reproduce these yarns, so when they're gone, that's it!
